Susan

Susan is the mother of a three-year-old son and one-year-old daughter. She is originally from Lagos, Nigeria, where she obtained her master’s degree before moving to New York City.

She now works at a beauty supply store and supplements that income with The Bridge Project funds, which has given her breathing room and the ability to spend more time with her kids.

“I’m more confident. You know how you are just relaxed knowing that there’s something somewhere compared to how you feel when you know you don’t have anything? If someone took my job from me or if I don’t work for a week now, I’m not going to be so bothered because I know that, okay, I can get money from there.”

The Bridge Project money has also helped her save for emergencies. “You know, you have $1,000 somewhere or $2,000. It’s not much, but you just know that if anything happens, you have small money to fall back on. This money gives me that kind of peace.”
